It's Ash Wednesday, and instead of breaking Catholic traditions by eating meat on the first day I decided to try a new buffet that just opened next to Castleton Mall. Formosa caters to vegetarians and meat eaters alike. For the secular people in the crowd there are many common Chinese buffet dishes available. For the less adventurous people you can get rice and fried chicken, beef and corn. But the buffet offers up some great fishy eats. You can try crab, shrimp, oysters, sushi, clams, I could go on. There was even fish soup which I can't harp on enough about. It's a nice change of pace to the tacos and disappointing burger joints in the area... and 8.71 for a massive lunch, can't complain
Valentine's Day wasn't all wine and roses. We finally got to play Mass Effect 3's demo. The single-player mode gave us a preview of the story, the Reaper's have arrived on Earth and it's Commander Shepard's job to unite the galaxy against them or we can say goodbye to the human race... actually, all life as we know it. The single-player can be played three ways allowing you to focus on the gameplay, the RPG aspect, or emphasize the story aspect.
The best part of the demo was a preview of the latest addition to Mass Effect, multiplayer. Now, I'm not the best when it comes to playing multiplayer games like Call of Duty and Halo: Reach, but even I can hold my own with the big boys in Mass Effect's multiplayer. You can play as one of the multiple character classes with variations in abilities tied to the race you're playing as; if you're a lover of biotics you can pick between Drell, Asari and Human classes, each with different traits. You can upgrade your character the same way you would in the single player campaign and customize the character's per match-up by buying "booster packs" with the credits you earn after each session.
So far the multiplayer is just two maps, and you have to survive wave after wave of foes, and depending on your skill the challenge can get really steep, fairly quick. I'm excited for the full game to launch on March 6th; my copy of the game has already been preordered... and I'll more than likely have to take time off from work to enjoy it...
The Mass Effect Flu, sounds like a fat person illness.
There were a lot of things I wanted to post before the new year, but thanks to a couple of things I was unable to. Chief among those things was Skyrim... every time I start playing I try to play for an hour so, but by the time I look at a clock it's been hours. The game's great but I'm starting to see dragons and bandits everywhere, even in clouds. So, time permitting I'll try to post my 2011 best of lists: TV, Movies and Comics.
As for 2012, I don't have many resolutions... most are inward and existential (I could go into them, but I'm sure it'd bore the hell out of you.) I do resolve to blog more, and I'm I fine a nie enough camera I may even start vlogging (I'll try not to do those stupid quick cuts and green screen effects.)
This is all contingent on the world not coming to an end... pesky Mayans and their prophecies.
Community is one of my favorite shows, and I love when people make music videos and mashups. Here are just a few using the paintball episode, Modern Warfare...
Youtube user Mewlists, who normally compiles things like the best F-Bombs in movies categorized by part of speech, has compiled a video of the Top 25 Christmas movies and Top 25 Christmas songs... no swearing included...
